India’s Test debacle in New Zealand raised a few eyebrows. But fortunately for the side, Virat Kohli accepted the 0-2 drubbing and made no excuses.
The Test series whitewash exposed India’s technical frailties and their inability to cope up with the pressure mentally. It was also the top ranked Test side’s first loss in the World Test Championship, an eyeopener that the inaugural edition of the championship has just started for them.
India can’t gloss over the New Zealand Test result: VVS Laxman

Test great VVS Laxman has given a heads up to India for the Test series Down Under in December. Though the schedule for the series is still to be announced, Laxman said, India can’t gloss over the New Zealand series result if they want to avoid a failure in Australia.
“It was refreshing to hear Virat Kohli offer no excuses for the 0-2 loss in New Zealand and stress on acceptance of outcome, but I hope India address the issue that hurt them badly in probably one of their worst overseas outing off late.
“The next series is not until December, so the temptation to write this off as a one-off could be overwhelming. But if India wants to avoid a repeat of this display in Australia later in the year, they can’t gloss over what transpired in New Zealand,” Laxman wrote in his column for Times of India.
Batting group would be hurting: VVS Laxman

Laxman, who once laid foundations for India for big totals in Tests, said the batting group must be hurt with their performance in New Zealand. He also stressed on the point that the group takes plenty of pride in themselves but were caught napping against New Zealand’s game plan.
For India, the Australia series will be a tough ask. Though they had registered a win, the last time they toured Australia for a Test series, with Steve Smith and David Warner back into the side, India will be wary of their formidable attack.
