Well, the latest trend of analysts announcing their squads for ICC World Cup 2019 is continuing. Earlier, we saw Gautam Gambhir revealing his best squad for the grand event, who included Ravichandran Ashwin. Now, the former Test specialist VVS Laxman has revealed his squad with a slightly surprising inclusion.
Much like Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman also named Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in the opening slots for the Indian National Cricket Team. The duo will be accompanied by KL Rahul, who is currently under the suspension. Laxman hopes that they will be available for the major event.
KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya find a place:
Then it was the regular skipper Virat Kohli, who will be a huge player going into the tournament. A lot of burdens will be on Virat Kohli not only for his batting but also for his captaincy. The next slot was given to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been a pretty important member of the current unit.
Laxman backed Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav for the middle-order slots. Then, coming to the backup wicketkeeper, Laxman also gave his vote to Dinesh Karthik over Rishah Pant. Karthik has been impressive in finishing the games for India.
The all-rounder slot was handed to Hardik Pandya, who is currently out of the team. Coming to the bowling section, Laxman added Jasprit Bumrah to the current Pace quadrant that includes Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami.
The major surprise of his squad is the addition of Khaleel Ahmed in the side. Perhaps, VVS Laxman believes that adding a left-handed bowler would help India at some stage of the tournament. The spin quota has been filled with Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
All in all, it seems like a pretty decent squad, which has a mix of experience and youngsters. Much like Gambhir, Laxman also left Ravindra Jadeja from the squad.
