The who’s who of Australian Cricket graced annual event of Cricket Australia (CA) yesterday. CA rewarded cricketers for their outstanding effort, while three former cricketers got inducted into the hall of fame.
Smith awarded the Allan Border Medal:
Australian skipper Steven Smith bagged Allan Border medal for the second time in a row. Smith was lethal with the bat for the past 12 months. Smith hammered 1305 runs in 2017 at a staggering average of 81.56. Further, it included six centuries against tough opponents.
Most recently, he has bagged the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award. He also became the Hublot test player of the year. Smith got selected through a poling section where his teammates, umpires, and representatives from the media voted. Eventually, Smith finished with 32 points, six ahead of Nathan Lyon.
Dani Wills spill beans on Smith’ household chores:
Smith met his lady love in a bar at Sydney. However, he proposed her last year standing on Manhattan’s Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Centre.
Wills revealed what her beau does after returning from any tour. During a media interaction, Dani admitted,
“Smith clears all the rubbish stacked inside the house,” after coming home from tours.
Meanwhile, Usman Khawaja’s job is to unpack the luggage, Elyse Villani sits and tastes the best coffee available.
Swashbuckling opener David Warner, who won the ODI Cricketer of the year got a match off to attend the event. Candice Warner revealed her husband’s primary job is to change the nappies after he comes back home.
Experienced Australian seamer Peter Siddle, who guided Adelaide Strikers to their maiden BBL title also grace the ceremony. His partner, Anna Weatherlake admitted his job is to clean the dog poop when he returns home.
Furthermore, the Australian cricketers had a gala time before getting back to business. Australia will fly to South Africa this Thursday for a four-match Test series. They will also play a four-day practice match before the Test series starting from 22 February.
Also, Warner will join the T20 squad in Auckland to play the final of the tri-nation T20 series.
