The budding fast-bowlers have received some pearl of wisdom on how to increase their pace by none other than Shoaib Akhtar – one of the most fearsome pacers to have ever played the game. The sight of Shoaib Akhtar charging in to deliver was enough to terrorise even the best in the business. Who can forget the Eden Gardens Test in 1999 when the former Pakistan pace spearhead had silenced a jam-packed stadium after castling Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, two of India’s greatest ever batsmen, off successive deliveries.

Well, the speedster had some advice for the budding and young cricketers who are desperate to add some more speed on their bowing. The bowling legend took to Twitter to post a collage of pictures showing Andy Roberts, Jeff Thompson, Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and himself in their bowling strides and state that how important it is to bowl side-arm to generate extra pace.

“These are all the fastest bowlers ever and if u notice the one thing common in all of them is the side arm action, Why ? Coz u tend to generate more pace with side arm bowling compared to front arm. Just some info for the young bowlers out there!”

Akhtar represented Pakistan in 46 Tests and 163 One-Day Internationals in a career that spanned well over a decade but was marred by controversies and injuries. The right-arm pacer, who was part of the Pakistan team that made it to the final of 1999 World Cup and won the World T20 title in 2009, took 444 international wickets.
