Arjun Tendulkar was dismissed on a duck in the ongoing first Youth Test against Sri Lanka Under-19 in Colombo. Thus, the Junior Tendulkar didn’t have the ideal start with the bat in his debut game for the Under-19 side.
Moreover, the southpaw batsman faced 11 deliveries and failed to open his account.
However, the 18-year old was able to get his maiden wicket when he trapped Kamil Mishra in front of the wickets.
The left-arm fast bowler conceded 33 runs in the 11 overs, he bowled and took a solitary wicket in the first innings.
Meanwhile, India Under-19 team is able to put their nose in front, in the first four-day game. The tourists were able to skittle out the hosts for a paltry score of 244 runs.
Harsh Tyagi and Ayush Badoni were the wreckers-in-chief of the Sri Lankan’s innings as they bagged four wickets each.
On the other hand, India U-19 scored a mammoth total of 589 in their first innings. Thus, the visitors were able to get a lead of 345 runs.
Indian openers provided a fine start to the team. Team’s skipper Anuj Rawat scored a quickfire 63 while his opening partner Atharwa Taide smashed a fine 113.
In fact, all the middle-order batsman got off to good start but eventually failed to make a substantial score.
Nehal Wadhera scored a fine 82 off 132 balls. Ayush Badoni backed his bowling performance with a splendid 185 with the bat. Therefore, Badoni and Nehal were able to put together an alliance of 199 runs for the sixth wicket. Therefore, India was able to dominate the Sri Lankan side
Thus, it should be a cakewalk win for India’s youngsters as there are still five sessions remaining in the match.
