IPL 2021: Watch - Arshdeep Singh Strikes Early, Sends Shubman Gill Back With A Pearler

Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler Arshdeep Singh drew first blood for his side against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday. He knocked over Shubman Gill with a wonderful delivery which left the KKR batsman stunned.

The two sides are facing off in a crunch game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. KKR needs a win to further cement their place in the playoff spot while Punjab is looking to break into the top 4.

The track in Dubai seemed to be tricky to read so KL Rahul opted to bat first. Early signs indicated that the pitch was great to bat on. Both Venkatesh Iyer and Gill found the middle of the bat early on and they crunched three boundaries in the first two overs.

Iyer in particular looks in great touch. He showed his wide array of strokes with a boundary each on the leg side and off side from Fabian Allen’s bowling. Gill also took toll of the width offered by Mohammad Shami before the first bowling change brought about his downfall.

The in-form bowler, Arshdeep was called in early and he made the inroad his skipper was looking for. After a couple of wayward deliveries, the 23-year-old found the perfect length outside off. There was considerable movement on offer and Gill was unable to deal with it.

He stepped across looking to defend but there was a huge gap between bat and ball. It was more than enough for the ball to sneak through and crash into the top of off-stump – the dream for every fast bowler. With the wicket of Gill, Arshdeep entered the top 5 wicket-takers list in this season.
