A bowler hardly gets a fraction of a second to react to any shot from the batsman off his own bowling. However, that very small amount of time was more than enough for Ben Laughlin to pull off a breathtaking catch while playing for Brisbane Heat against Hobart Hurricanes on Thursday in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).

Clive Rose was the one who fell victim to the superb grab from the veteran bowler. After scoring four from four balls, Clive Rose was looking to break the shackles in the 17th over when he was bamboozled by the slower delivery and then the stunning catch by Ben Laughlin.

After being surprised by the slower one, all Clive Rose did was to hit the ball back towards the bowler. The ball still looked set to land safely as it was well out of Ben Laughlin’s reach. However, the pacer had some other ideas. Before the ball could even land on the ground, he made a full-length dive towards his right and plucked the catch while being airborne.

Here is a clip of that stunning catch from Ben Laughlin:

Hobart Hurricanes, meanwhile, finished their innings on a modest 126 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. After deciding to bat first, the Hurricanes never really managed to justify the decision. Barring captain Matthew Wade, who was returning to the team after the Test series against New Zealand, none of the batsmen showed any composure.

Wade top-scored with 61 before falling to a controversial catch. Apart from him, only two players could managed to cross the double-digit mark – Thomas Rogers (17) and Nathan Ellis (13). For Heat, Josh Lalor was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 21 while Ben Laughlin picked up 2 for 21.
