The day one of the Pink Ball Test at Eden Gardens completely belongs to the Indian National Cricket Team. The fast bowlers did the trick for the team by bagging wickets on a regular basis to make things fall in place. They kept wicket-keeper and slip cordon always busy by finding the edges of the Bangladesh batsmen. During one of those catching opportunities, Rohit Sharma almost shelled it out but Cheteshwar Pujara comes to the rescue of the Mumbaikar.

It was in the 31st over of the match when the number 11 batsman was at the strike. Mohammed Shami, who is bowling with a great pace, found the edge of Abu Jayed, which travelled quickly to Rohit Sharma at second slip. The right-handed batsman tried to reverse cups the ball but failed to hold on.

Cheteshwar Pujara completes the catch:

The ball lobbed up in the air and Rohit Sharma had no clue where the ball had gone. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara, who is at the first slip, finished the catch to bring curtains on the Bangladesh innings. The expression given by Rohit Sharma following the drop had left everyone in splits out there.

It would have been the second drop for Rohit Sharma at the slip cordon if Cheteshwar Pujara shelled it out. Earlier in the day, he missed out a straightforward catch at slips, which would have given the first wicket for India. Amidst all the troubles, Rohit Sharma left a mark of his own in the slip section when he pulled out an absolute stunner at third slip to dismiss Mominul Haque.

Coming to the match, it was a day of complete dominance for India. Right from the first over of Ishant Sharma, every over of Bangladesh innings was under the control of India. Ishant Sharma finished with a 5-wicket haul while Umesh Yadav bagged three wickets to his name. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami finished with a couple of wickets.

In total, Bangladesh scored 106 runs on the board with Shadman Islam being the top run-scorer for the team. In reply, India started off well but Bangladesh bowlers were smart enough in sending Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal back to the hut.
