MS Dhoni, on Wednesday, was rested and Suresh Raina was handed over the captaincy as Chennai Super Kings took on Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Super Kings skipper had struggled with back spasm over the last two matches against Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. With seven wins from eight games, Super Kings had no real worries about the result and so they decided to rest the captain in order to give him the time to recover ahead of the main phase of the competition.

Dhoni has been in good form in this IPL too. The veteran batsman is Super Kings’ leading run-scorer with 230 runs from 8 matches including 2 fifties. Not surprisingly, the Super Kings missed the services of their skipper as Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed them by 6 wickets with more than three overs remaining. Asked to bat first, the Super Kings were off to a good start.

Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson added 79 runs for the first wicket. However, the Sunrisers made the most of the breakthrough and tightened up things. As a result, the Super Kings could only manage 132 runs in the allotted 20 overs. With Dhoni sitting in the dugout, the defending champions scored just 30 runs in last five overs, and only 52 in the last 10 overs. It was their lowest total this season while batting first.

In reply, the Sunrisers chased down the total inside 17 overs by losing just four wickets.  Opener David Warner (50) struck his fifth half-century this season and added 66 runs with fellow opener Jonny Bairstow before departing. But unlike Warner, Bairstow remained till the end, scoring an unbeaten 61 to take the Sunrisers home comfortably. With this win, the Sunrisers ended their three-match losing streak.

Following the game, a beautiful sight was witnessed. MS Dhoni came out from the dugout and was seen enjoying a conversation with David Warner and other Sunrisers players. The Super Kings star probably shared some joke as Warner was left in splits.

Here is a clip of that beautiful moment:
