MS Dhoni is smiling again. The sight of the Chennai Super Kings skipper huffing and puffing on the field while taking runs and gasping for breath during the loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad last week was a heartbreaking sight for many. That loss was CSK’s third in a row in four games.

But the three-time champions finally turned things around on Sunday with a solid ten-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab and the smile returned on MS Dhoni’s face again. With the win, CSK not only returned to winning ways but also moved up from the bottom of the points table in the eight-team competition.

Batting first, the KL Rahul-led side finished its innings on 178 for 4. At 152 for 2 after 17 overs, they were looking set to score something around 200 but the 18th over bowled by Shardul Thakur changed the complexion. The pacer managed to remove the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul, two set batsmen, on consecutive deliveries in the 18th over while conceding just three runs.

But looking at the way Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis batted, it would not have mattered even if the target was above 200 as well. The CSK openers scored unbeaten fifties while stitching up a 181-run partnership for the opening wicket to guide their team to win. The target of 179 runs was eventually chased down with 14 balls to spare. Watson scored 83* while du Plessis scored 87.

Animated MS Dhoni:

Following the much-needed win, MS Dhoni looked very jovial. Not the one to show emotions on the cricket field, the former India skipper was hilariously seen imitating KXIP veteran Chris Gayle when players from both the teams were greeting each other after the match.

Here is a clip of the incident:

Later, the wicketkeeper-batsman was also seen talking to KXIP stars Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul as the duo took valuable tips from the modern-day legend.
