Watch: Ishan Kishan Suffers Freak Injury On His Face From A Hardik Pandya Throw
Every now and then, the game of cricket witnesses a freakish incident that leaves the whole world shattered. The accidents which claimed the lives of Raman Lamba and Phil Hughes are still fresh in every cricket fan’s mind. Well, something similar happened on Tuesday (April 17) but fortunately it did not lead to a dire consequence.
During the game against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Ishan Kishan suffered a freak injury. A throw from Hardik Pandya struck Mumbai’s wicketkeeper hard on the face and left him with a swollen eye. Kishan was floored as soon as he received the nasty-looking blow. The medical staff soon attended him as he was seen grimacing in pain.
The incident happened during the 13th over of Bangalore’s chase. Kohli played a pull shot off Jasprit Bumrah which Hardik fielded and threw towards the striker’s end. The bowl, however, bounced awkwardly from a rough patch near the pitch and struck Kishan close to his right eye. Kishan soon left the field amidst the cheer of the fans. Aditya Tare was brought on as a substitute fielder and he donned the gloves for the remainder of the game.

Meanwhile, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma gave an encouraging update on Kishan’s injury.
“It was very unfortunate,” Rohit said about Kishan’s injury during his interaction with the media after the match. “I haven’t checked on him because after the presentation got over I came here (for the press conference). But he seems to be alright. He has some swelling under his eyes which, I guess, should be okay by tomorrow or day after.”
