Team India has received a much-needed boost ahead of the Test series against England. Their star pacer  Jasprit Bumrah has started his training, showing signs he would be ready for the series in time.

Bumrah has not played since the first T20I against Ireland last month when he injured his finger. He had picked up the injury during India’s first game on the tour of England and Ireland: the T20 against Ireland in Malahide on June 27. It seemed that he would get fit in time for the recently-concluded ODI series against England. However, the recovery is taking longer than expected. Deepak Chahar had replaced him in the T20I against England while Shardul Thakur had taken his spot in the ODI team.

But he is now looking set to return to action. The right-arm pacer posted a video on his Instagram where he could be seen running on a treadmill. His finger, however, was still covered.

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” #thelionisupandrunning???? [sic],” the speedster wrote.

India will be desperate to have Bumrah back after losing the ODIs. The Men in Blue badly missed Bumrah in the One-day International series defeat. India started the tour on a brilliant note, thoroughly outplaying the hosts to win the three-match Twenty20 Internationals.

The visitors extended the impressive form in the first ODI too, winning it by convincingly by eight wickets. However, nothing much went right for the team in the following two games. The batsmen failed to put up a good score on the board while the bowlers also failed to make much of an impression. As a result, England won both the games convincingly to win the series.

Moreover, India will also be without their pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the first three Tests. He has not been named in the team owing to a back injury. On the other hand, Bumrah was named in the team but he will miss the first Test, starting August 1.

“Jasprit Bumrah, who has been included in the squad, will be available for selection from the second Test onwards based on his fitness,” the statement from BCCI said.
