Kemar Roach waited for more than 80 overs to claim an elusive Test wicket when he finally got back-to-back scalps in the form of Ben Stokes [176] and Chris Woakes [0] and during England’s first innings in the 2nd Test.

But since then, wickets have come in thick and fast for the premier West Indian fast bowler. The right-hander produced two brilliant deliveries in the second session of the opening day to dismiss the two centurions of the last game in the form of Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley.

After dismissing Sibley for a duck with a fullish length delivery, one that pinned the opener right in front of the wicket, Kemar Roach used the good ole’ fashioned ploy- force the batsman on the backfoot with a barrage of bumpers before firing in a fullish delivery to either bamboozle his stumps or trap him in front of the wicket- to dismiss Ben Stokes.

It all happened in the 35th over of the English innings when Kemar Roach roughed up Stokes with a shortish delivery. The delivery surprised Stokes and hit him on his head.

The all-rounder underwent a customary concussion check successfully before creaming Roach for a boundary on another shortish delivery.

Roach then proceeded to tease the English all-rounder with fullish length deliveries outside the off-stump before producing a jaffa- a nip-backer which jagged back in considerably to knock over Stokes [20 off 43 balls] off-stump.

Roach’s magical delivery meant that Ben Stokes, who is playing as a specialist batsman in this Test, registered his first score of less than 30 in the ongoing series. Kemar Roach, meanwhile, has now dismissed Ben Stokes on five occasions in Test match cricket- the third-most by a bowler in the Durham all-rounder’s career.
