Kieron Pollard is hitting all the right notes ahead of this year’s Indian Premier League. Currently playing the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the Trinbago Knight Riders captain played a stunning knock of 72 off just 28 balls against defending champions Barbados Tridents.

Chasing 149, the Knight Riders were in all sorts of trouble early on. They were reeling at 62 for 5 when their skipper walked in to bat. With 87 runs needed from 44 balls on a slow pitch, the match looked as good as over for the Knight Riders. However, Kieron Pollard had some other ideas.

The right-handed batsman launched a stunning assault and played a blinder to power his team to a two-wicket win. He slammed nine massive sixes during his knock to ensure the Knight Riders stretched their perfect start to the tournament into their sixth game.

When Kieron Pollard was at the crease, the batsmen at the other end, plus extras, combined to score 7 off 12 balls. The Mumbai Indians star made his intentions clear right from the first ball when he launched Hayden Walsh for a maximum. Rashid Khan was soon brought into the attack but it made little difference as Kieron Pollard hit the leg-spinner for a six too.

The equation was down to 66 from the last four overs. The Knight Riders skipper then turned the game on its head by slamming Walsh for four sixes in the seventeenth over. With 15 runs needed in the final over, Kieron Pollard started by hitting Raymon Reifer for a six.

However, he was run-out on the first ball of the final over when his side needed 8 runs and the game took another turn. But Khary Pierre hit a six before taking a single to take his team over the line and spark wild celebration.
