Sri Lanka’s miseries are only piling up in the ongoing series against India. Trailing the series 1-0 after losing the series-opener by 304 runs, the island nation is pushed firmly on the backfoot in the ongoing second Test in Colombo. Making the most of a good batting pitch, India rode on centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to post a mammoth 622 for 9 (declared).

Sri Lanka, undoubtedly, needed a good start but the way their innings unfolded, it was enough to understand that Dinesh Chandimal & Co. are going through a tough time as their senior batsman Upul Tharanga departed for a duck on a ball which he would have hit for a four nine out of ten times. But with nothing going Sri Lanka’s way, they were off to a poor start with Ravichandran Ashwin dismissing Tharanga cheaply.

Looking to hit the delivery which was well on the leg stump, Tharanga, who had scored 64 in the first innings of the last Test, hit his shot straight into the KL Rahul‘s midriff at short leg where the Indian opener managed to hold on to the ball.

Here is a clip of that catch:
