India’s left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav was not up to his best during Sunday’s encounter against West Indies at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It was a game that never really got going for him on Chennai wicket. He remained wicketless throughout the match. He gave away 45 runs and bowled as many as 7 wides in his 10-over bowling spell.

Kuldeep Yadav was also one of the bowlers who failed to upset the batsmen during West Indies’ run-chase and as a result, the visitors aced the run-chase with relative ease beating the hosts by eight wickets with thirteen balls to spare. West Indies took the first lead in the ODI series.

However, during the must-win match for India in Visakhapatnam, Kuldeep Yadav was back to his imperious best where he unleashed his true potential against the West Indies’ batting line-up. In what was an absolute peach of bowling, Kuldeep Yadav bagged a sensational hat-trick to remove Shai Hope, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph.

In the process, Kuldeep Yadav became the first Indian to claim two hat-tricks at the international stage. While Nicholas Pooran looked well set at the crease by welcoming the Indian bowlers with as many as three maximums and seven fours to his 78-run knock, Kuldeep Yadav came into the attack and the let the ball do the talking.

After that, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jason Holder for 11 runs as the batsman was stumped out by Rishabh Pant. Then, the drama unfolded to a whole new level. Alzarri Joseph was under pressure to face the chinaman bowler. Much to everyone’s surprise, he dismissed him for a duck.
