Mark Wood provided England a much-needed wicket in the form of Cheteshwar Pujara which eventually opened the floodgates for the hosts in the ongoing Lord’s Test.
Cheteshwar Pujara [45 off 206 balls] and Ajinkya Rahane [61 off 146 balls] had stonewalled their way for just under 50 overs across three sessions to accumulate 100 runs between but with the bowlers not really looking threatening, one wondered that the duo was well on their way to take India to a safe position.
However, Mark Wood, who was impressive throughout the first day, broke open the game once again in the 73rd over with a delivery that would have dismissed any batsman in the world.
It was a proper Jaffa by the tall pacer; one that landed on the back of length region and kicked off rapidly towards Pujara.
The wicket of Pujara opened the floodgates for England as Ajinkya Rahane fell in a tame manner to Moeen Ali after doing all the hard work before Ravindra Jadeja got a jaffa from the off-spinner! one that landed on middle, beat his outside edge before hitting the top of off-stump.
With the light deteriorating significantly, England were forced to persist with spinners even though the new ball was available. However, the day was eventually called off amid animated reactions from Virat Kohli from the team’s balcony.

Our hard work pays off!
