Mohammed Shami proved to be the partnership-breaker for Team India as he pinned the dangerous-looking Rory Burns one short of a well-deserved half-century late into the day.
After having lost back-to-back wickets in the form of Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hamid at the start of the third session, England skipper Joe Root and opener Rory Burns took control of the proceedings with a brilliant 85-run-stand for the third wicket.

The duo saw off the testing spell from Mohammed Siraj before taking full toll on whatever opportunities they got from the latter at the backend of his spell and also from Joe Root.
Burns, in particular, was imperious against anything that was pitched short or on his legs as he creamed some delightful boundaries.
But just as it looked that Burns and Root will see off the day for England, Mohammed Shami struck gold on just the second delivery of his spell.
The Indians went up straight away, as did the umpire’s finger. On the naked eye, it looked eye on impact and Burns rightly opted to challenge the decision.
However, the ball tracking confirmed that it would have crashed into the stumps confirming Rory Burns’ departure.
