The fans will have to wait for a few more days to see MS Dhoni in action. All eyes were on the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as it would have marked his return. The IPL was scheduled to start on March 29 with MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament-opener.

MS Dhoni was also training hard to make sure that he hits the ground running on his return. The former India skipper was in Chennai since the start of this month to train for the upcoming season of the IPL. His presence saw thousands of fans arriving at the Chepauk everyday to watch him train.

Apart from MS Dhoni, the likes of Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh and Murali Vijay were also part of the camp. Kedar Jadhav, new recruit Piyush Chawla, Karn Sharma, K M Asif and local players R Sai Kishore and N Jagadeesan attended the camp too.

However, the camp was suspended on Friday due to the coronavirus pandemic. The decision came after the BCCI suspended the IPL till April 15 as a precautionary measure. The suspension of the Super Kings’ training camp and the IPL is definitely a disappointing news for the fans but MS Dhoni tried to cheer them up with a beautiful gesture.

Before leaving for his home town Ranchi, the Super Kings captain interacted with the ground staff, officials and the fans at the Chepauk. He also signed autographs and posed for photos before leaving the stadium. Super Kings later posted the heartwarming video on Twitter.

The coronavirus outbreak has affected almost every sporting event in the globe. Earlier this week, India’s ODI series against South Africa, Australia’s ODI and T20I series against New Zealand and England’s Test series against Sri Lanka were called off too.
