Watch: MS Dhoni Gets DRS Spot On After Being Adjudged LBW
MS Dhoni was batting on 14 off 24 balls when he was given out lbw by the on-field umpire Bruce Oxenford, who hails from Australia in the ongoing third One-day International against England.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni must have had his heart in his mouth as such a slow knock would have attracted even more criticism.
The former India skipper Dhoni had grabbed the headlines for all the wrong reasons after the second ODI held at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s. He had scored 37 off 59 balls and had faced widespread criticism.
Well, something similar was about to happen when he once again started the proceedings slowly, but the Decision Review System (DR)S gave him another chance to finish his innings strongly.
In the 32nd over, off-spinner Moeen Ali bowled one which turned in and went past Dhoni’s trademark push. The ball went past the inside edge and struck Dhoni’s back leg.
English spinners bowled well to keep the visitors tied and brought down the run-rate as well.
However, to be honest, it looked close and the England fielders went up in unison. After a brief pause, the umpire raised his dreaded finger only to see Dhoni reviewing the decision. And what came was a pure delight for the Indian fans, as it turned out to be spot on from the veteran.
There was no inside edge but the ball was missing the stumps by a major distance and the on-field umpire Oxenford had to overturn his decision, much to the delight of the crowd who cheered at the top of their voices.

Meanwhile, at the end of the 32nd over, India were in dire straits. They were reeling at 162 for 5 with MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya in the middle.
