Such has been Mahendra Singh Dhoni‘s remarkable accuracy with reviewing the umpire’s decision that the fans and the commentators have started calling the Decision Review System the ‘Dhoni Review System. There are very few cricketers in the world who can get the Decision Review System the way former Indian skipper MS Dhoni does.

However, Sunday (December 17) saw an unusual and expected incident when the veteran wicketkeeper made a rare mistake from behind the stumps in the ongoing third One-Day International against Sri Lanka.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the innings when Kuldeep Yadav‘s delivery hit Sri Lanka batsman Sadeera  Samarawickrama straight onto the pad. The right-handed batsman went for a flick but the ball spun in sharply from a fuller length, and he failed to make any contact.

The ball went on to hit him low on the pads, and the Indian fielders including Dhoni went up in unison. It was looking close, but the umpire gave his decision in the batsman’s favour. Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma soon turned towards Dhoni to decide whether to review the decision but the 36-year old advised against it and so, the hosts did not to go upstairs. Replays later showed that the batsman was out.

Here is a clip of that incident:
