Prithvi Shaw, on Monday, took a stunning catch to send back Australia captain Tim Paine in the ongoing three-day first-class game between India A and Australia A. India A needed something special to break the partnership between Paine and Cameron Green as the duo had sent the Indian bowlers on a leather hunt.

After declaring their innings on 247 for 9, India started well with the ball. Umesh Yadav sent back both Australia A openers – Will Pucovski (1) and Joe Burns (4) – cheaply. Mohammed Siraj then castled Australia A captain Travis Head before Ravichandran Ashwin accounted for Marcus Harris and Nic Maddison to leave the home side reeling at 98 for 5.

But before India A could make further inroads in the game, Paine and highly-rated Cameron Green steadied the ship for Australia A. The duo frustrated the visitors as they took the score past the 200-run mark. And just when it looked like they would go on to finish the day without being dismissed, Prithvi Shaw came up with the stunner to break the stand.

On the final ball of the 59th over, Paine connected well with a short delivery from Umesh Yadav. The ball was looking destined to go to the boundary but Prithvi Shaw had some other plans. Standing at square leg, the youngster made a timely jump and caught the ball with one hand in a stunning manner while being airborne.

Here is a clip of the catch from Prithvi Shaw:

Earlier in the game, captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a fine unbeaten century to lead India A’s charge with the bat. He remained unbeaten on 117. Cheteshwar Pujara was the only other batsman who looked impressive as he scored 54. On the other hand, the likes of Prithvi Shaw (0), Shubman Gill (0), Hanuma Vihari (15) and Wriddhiman Saha (0) failed to impress.
