There is absolutely no stopping Rashid Khan at the moment. The Afghanistan superstar is well on his way to create his own legacy in the game. On Sunday, he added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap by taking four wickets off four balls in the third T20I against Ireland.  He eventually finished the game with stunning figures of 5 for 27 as Afghanistan beat Ireland by 32 runs to clean sweep the three-match series.

Batting first, Afghanistan piled up 210 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Fresh off the 162-run knock in the second T20I, Hazratullah Zazai gave another fast start to the side. The southpaw slammed 32 off 17 as the hosts plundered 46 in the first four overs. Boyd Rankin, however, struck twice in the fifth over to pull things back just a touch. Afghanistan soon found themselves reeling at 67 for 3 before Mohammad Nabi and Asghar Afghan steadied things. The two added 40 runs to help their side cross the 100-run mark in the 12th over. Nabi, nonetheless, went on to blast 81 off just 36 deliveries to fire the hosts to the huge total.

In reply, Ireland lost Paul Stirling early in the third over. However, Kevin O’Brien fired on all cylinders to keep Ireland in the game. He found good support from Andrew Balbirnie as the two added 96 runs. With the scoreboard reading 153 for 3 in the 16th over and O’Brien looking in good form, Ireland were pretty much in the game before Rashid turned the game in his team’s favour.  O’Brien became the first batsman to fall to Khan with the last ball of the 16th over.

Rashidhad his second courtesy of a stunning catch over the boundary from Nabi before Shane Geftake and Simi Singh fell in the next two deliveries. As a result, Ireland were eventually restricted to 178 for 8.

Rashid, meanwhile became just the second bowler in international cricket to take four wickets in four balls. Sri Lanka star Lasith Malinga was the first to achieve the feat against South Africa in the 2007 World Cup.
