With every passing day, Ravichandran Ashwin is leaving no stone unturned to show why he is still the best Indian spinner when it comes to Test. The off-spinner dismissed Keaton Jennings cheaply on day three to give India the best possible start.

The build-up to the series was dominated by talks regarding whether the Indian spinners would get a chance in the playing eleven in the pacer-friendly English conditions. Moreover, there were also speculations that India might prefer Kuldeep Yadav ahead of Ashwin. However, it took Ashwin just one innings to prove why he is considered as the best off-spinner in the world at the moment.

In the first innings, he gave India the first breakthrough by castling Alastair Cook with a gem of a delivery. He then went on to dismiss Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad to finish the innings as India’s highest wicket-taker.

And the off-spinner is now looking set to do even better in the second innings. In the final session of day two, he dismissed Cook again with a beauty to help India finish the day strongly. On day three, he proved his worth again by dismissing Jennings to leave England reeling at 18 for 2.

It was a classical off-spin that helped Ashwin pick up his sixth wicket of the game. The Tamil Nadu star bowled a tossed up delivery just outside off. Jennings tried to play it by pushing forward. However, the ball dipped in front of him and then turned across before catching the outside edge.

KL Rahul then took a sharp catch at second slip to send back the left-handed batsman.

Here is a clip of that dismissal:

Meanwhile, England’s overall lead is now 31.
