South Africa’s all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe grabbed a stunner in the ongoing Mzansi Super League 2019. The southpaw spinner dived to take a fine catch. The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants batsman Heino Kuhn played the shot towards the off-side while dancing down the wicket. Van der Merwe was positioned at short mid-wicket and took a fine catch for Tshwane Spartans.
Meanwhile, Tshwane Spartans were able to make their way into the final after defeating Nelson Mandela Bay Giants by 22 runs. Nelson Mandela Bay Giants skipper JJ Smuts won the toss and decided to field first. Tshwane Spartans posted a par score of 166 runs. In fact, Spartans didn’t get off to a good start as Dean Elgar was dismissed cheaply for 14 runs.
It was a fine catch from the all-rounder.
Mthiwekhaya Nabe provided the big wicket of AB de Villiers as the former South African skipper was dismissed cheaply for 27 runs. The talisman was looking dangerous as he raced to 27 off just 15 balls. Spartans skipper Heinrich Klaasen also could not get going as he scored nine runs.
However, Pite van Biljon and David Wiese provided the finishing touches for the Tshwane Spartans. Biljon smashed 48 runs from 32 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Furthermore, David Wiese scored a quickfire knock of 31 runs from 23 balls with the help of three fours and one six.
On the other hand, Mthiwekhaya Nabe scalped two wickets whereas Akhona Mnyaka and Imran Tahir scalped one wicket apiece. Nelson Mandela Bay Giants could only manage 144 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Meanwhile, Chris Morris top-scored with 43 runs from 23 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes. David Wiese snared three wickets for the Tshwane Spartans. Wiese was awarded the Man of the match as he shined with both bat as well as the ball.
