Rohit Sharma, on Sunday, just could not refrain from having a laugh at the expense of umpire Ian Gould during the World Cup clash between India and Australia. It all happened after Gould was proven wrong by the decision review system. The incident took place in the 39th over when Steve Smith was facing India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
As usual, Smith was looking solid with the bat and India bowlers were failing to find a way past him. However, on the fourth delivery of the over, Bhuvneshwar’s delivery pinned Smith on the pads. Smith was looking to work it to the on-side. The right-handed batsman played across the line and played it down the wrong line.

As soon as the ball hit the pads, Bhuvneshwar and other Indian players went up in unison. it was looking close and even the commentator was heard saying it was out. But to everyone’s surprise, Ian Gould did not raise his finger. Baffled with the decision, the Indian players did not wait long to review the decision. Replays showed that Bhuvneshwar’s delivery was spot on and would have gone on to hit the middle stumps.
And as soon as the decision was overturned, Rohit Sharma was seen sarcastically pointing towards Gould and muttering something before breaking into a laugh.
Here is the clip of the incident:

India, meanwhile, beat Australia by 36 runs to register their second win of the competition. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started cautiously before shifting gears. The two added 127 runs for the first wicket before Nathan Coulter-Nile dismissed Rohit to give Australia the much-needed breakthrough. Rohit scored 57. Dhawan then scored a ton while Kohli scored a fifty as India piled up 352 for 5. In reply, Australia put up a good fight but were eventually all out for 316.
