To commemorate this historic moment, the batting maestro celebrated with his fans from all over the world by cutting a cake in Mumbai on the 25th anniversary of his iconic “Desert Storm” innings.

In a crucial match of the triangular series between India, Australia, and New Zealand in Sharjah, Australia set a daunting total of 284/7 in 50 overs. India had to either win or lose by 30 runs or less to stay in the tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar played one of the most exceptional innings in the history of ODI cricket, leading India’s chase. Despite losing Sourav Ganguly, Nayan Mongia, captain Mohammed Azharuddin, and Ajay Jadeja, Tendulkar continued to score runs relentlessly. A desert storm interrupted the match for 20 minutes, and India were given a revised target of 276 in 46 overs, with only eight runs lost in the four overs.

Sachin Tendulkar’s bat seemed to blow away the mighty Australian team with his superlative knock. Although India fell 26 runs short of the target, Tendulkar’s performance was exceptional enough to help India qualify for the final, where he scored another century, 134, leading India to win the Tri-series.

Sachin Tendulkar talked about the knock against Australia playing in those tough conditions adding that he cannot believe it has been twenty-five years since he played that knock.

“I cannot believe this happened 25 years ago, now I have a 25-year-old daughter and 23-year-old son, you can all imagine how time flies. We all have changed and become more experienced, we go grey, and some goes bold, fortunately in my case I am still reasonable okay I would say (smiles),”

“I feel lucky that god has put me in this position where a can give a reason to smile, just by having a cricket bat in my hand and that is something that I love doing all my life, that is what I wanted to be in life,”

“25 years have gone, and I am double the age of the innings, it makes me feel really nostalgic that 25 years down the line we have gathered here to celebrate and celebrate my birthday in advance.”
