Watch: Shannon Gabriel Sends Back KL Rahul For A Duck With A Beautiful Inswinger
KL Rahul was out for a duck in the very first over of the ongoing first Test against West Indies in Rajkot.
So the 149-run knock in his final innings of the England tour looks just like a flash in the pan right now. Rahul had begun his tour of England on a perfect note. In the first T20I, he slammed a stunning ton to guide India to a comprehensive win. However, things did not go down well for Rahul after that.
In the ODIs, he scored 9 and 0 before being dropped. The poor form continued in Tests too. In the series-opener, he scored 4 and 13. In the second game at Lord’s, he managed 8 and 10. He looked good at Trent Bridge but threw away the starts, thus scoring 23 and 36. He followed them with scores of 19, 0 37. However, he scored 149 in the final Test to ease the pressure off himself. But the latest failure that too in favourable conditions is set to pile more pressure on him.
On the final delivery of the first over of the game, Gabriel bowled a quick delivery that nipped back in and hit Rahul’s pad. Rahul, who had not looked confident with his foot-movement on the previous deliveries, tried to come on to the front foot without much confidence. As a result, he had to pay a big price in the form of his wicket. The angled delivery from Gabriel beat Rahul for pace and hit him on the pad. Umpire Ian Gould raised his finger after thinking for a while.
Rahul then went on to review the decision only to realise that he has made yet another mistake as he walked off the field.
Here is a clip of that wicket:
