Kuldeep Yadav has found himself among the wickets in the ongoing first One-day International against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 17th over when Bhanuka Rajapaksa went for an ill-fated swat across the line.

It was a nicely floated delivery wide of off-stump by Kuldeep Yadav.

What Rajapaksa did was he rocked back into his crease and swat it across the line.

The ball wasn’t short enough for the attempted pull and Rajapaksa paid a heavy price for it as the ball ballooned in the air, only for Shikhar Dhawan, who was stationed at short mid-wicket, to run backward and take a brilliant diving catch at mid-on.

The dismissal brought an end to an entertaining cameo by Rajapaksa, who smashed a couple of fours and as many sixes during his 22-ball 24.

One wicket brought two for Kuldeep Yadav as he enticed another set batter in M. Bhanuka to drive a nicely tossed-up delivery, which ended up straight in Prithvi Shaw’s hands at first slip.

Since the double-strike by Kuldeep Yadav, Sri Lankan batters haven’t been able to break free against disciplined Indian bowling. Krunal Pandya’s accurate bowling eventually helped him to get his first wicket as Dhananjaya de Silva perished in an attempt to hit the left-arm orthodox inside-out.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka had meandered their way to 4/156 after 36 overs.
