The Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee recently picked Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Team India. Shastri was one of the five shortlisted candidates who were interviewed by the three-member panel last week. Shastri left behind the likes of Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Lalchand Rajput and Robin Singh to retain his post.
Shastri’s new tenure will come to an end at after the T20 World Cup in 2021. Shastri’s appointment was always on the cards because of his strong rapport with the team. The fine results also strengthened his chances. Shastri’s current tenure will end after the conclusion of the ongoing tour of West Indies. Now with Shastri getting the backing of the Kapil Dev-led panel, a very controversial video from the past has resurfaced.

In the video, the former India allrounder could be seen using obscene language while talking about Kapil Dev. Speaking to former India allrounder Manoj Prabhakar, Shastri bragged about himself as he used the word behenc**d repeatedly while speaking about Kapil Dev. Not only that, Shastri also said that he was the only man who used to stand up to Kapil.

Shastri, meanwhile, will be looking to have a better tenure this time around. Overall, India did fairly well under him. Since he replaced Anil Kumble in 2017, Shastri’s coaching record has been phenomenal. India has won 13 out of 21 Tests, 43 out of 60 ODIs and 25 T20 Internationals out of 36 on his watch. The Men in Blue also won the Nidahas Trophy and Asia Cup in addition to making it to the semifinal of the World Cup.
