Legendary Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar celebrated athlete Neeraj Chopra’s Gold medal triumph at Tokyo 2020 by singing the iconic Hindi song “Mere Desh ki dharti”

Neeraj Chopra scripted history on Saturday as he helped India bag their first gold medal in the 2020 Olympics.

This is India’s second Gold medal in the individual category and its first in Athletics.

Neeraj Chopra had stormed into the final round as a medal contender after topping the qualification round with a stunning throw of 86.59 m.

The champion athlete proceeded to bring his A-game in the finals as he stunned the athletic world with a brilliant 87.58m throwing in the second round.

Neeraj Chopra’s Gold medal meant that India completed their Olympic 2020 campaign with their best-ever tally of seven medals.

In a video uploaded on Twitter, the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently commentating in the India-England Nottingham Test can be seen singing the iconic ‘Meri Desh ki Dharti” from Manoj Kumar’s 1967 movie ‘Upkar’
