Tom Moody and his his IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s journey in the ongoing season came to an end on Wednesday. One of the most consistent teams in the competition in recent years, the Sunrisers lost the Eliminator to Delhi Capitals by 2 wickets. The Sunrisers gave Delhi a run for their money before the latter managed to prevail and kept their season alive.
Asked to bat first, the Sunrisers started on a good note with Martin Guptill leading the charge. At the end of the powerplay, the Sunrisers had raced away to 54. However, it was followed by a dull period in the middle overs. But Vijay Shankar smashed 25 from just 11 while Mohammad Nabi scored 20 from 13 as Sunrisers put up a challenging 162.
In reply, Dehli Capitals started on a stunning note with Prithvi Shaw firing on all cylinders. By the time the powerplay ended, the Delhi-based outfit had raced away to 55. However, they soon collapsed and were reeling at 111 for 5 in the 15th over. Sunrisers were very much on the top at that moment before Rishabh Pant took the matters in his own hands. He smashed 49 from just 21 to turn the game as Delhi chased down the total with a ball remaining.

The loss has further extended Sunrisers’ search for a second IPL title and first since they won their inaugural title in 2016. In 2017, they had made it to the playoffs before making it to the final last year where they lost to Chennai Super Kings. And another close loss finally made Sunrisers coach Tom Moody emotional as he could not hold back his tears after his team lost the game. The former Australia international was seen shedding tears and wiping it as his team lost a thriller in Vizag.
