Indian captain Virat Kohli was at his aggressive best at the start of England’s second innings as he gave a fiery pep talk to his men before they took their positions.
Kohli and Team India had been fired up all day after what had happened between Jasprit Bumrah and English players.
Bumrah was peppered with the short-pitch stuff but in the end, it was him and Mohammed Shami who had the last laugh as the duo racked up an unbeaten 89* run-stand for the 10th wicket to put India in a situation when they could dictate terms to England.
And, that is exactly what Virat Kohli told his players in the team huddle.
“For 60 overs they should feel hell out there,” Virat Kohli was heard saying.
And, that is exactly what the Indian new-ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami did in their first spell.
Bumrah dismissed Rory Burns on the third ball of England’s innings after the southpaw, in an attempt to flick the ball on the leg-side, ended up getting a leading edge to Mohammed Siraj at short cover.
Shami joined the party in the very next over as he bowled an absolute pearler to Dom Sibley, who couldn’t help but get a faint edge with Rishabh Pant doing the rest.
India could have got their third wicket in the form of Haseeb Hameed off the bowling of Mohammed Shami but Rohit Sharma ended up shelling the nick at 2nd slip.
Since then, Joe Root and Hameed have weathered the storm as the match heads towards its final Tea break.
