Former India captain MS Dhoni came into bat at number seven, which is very hard to digest. The wicketkeeper-batsman had already made his intentions clear when he decided to hand over the baton of captaincy to Virat Kohli that, he now wants to stay in the middle overs and guide the team’s batting.

Having sealed the series in Indore, team management had different plans for the Bengaluru ODI, as they decided to make as many as three changes and all of them in the bowling department, leaving out Bhuvneshwar, Bumrah, and Kuldeep.

The result of these changes gave the visitors a chance to post a big first innings total on the board and Australian team managed to win the match in the end, comfortably by 21 runs.

When MS Dhoni came to bat India needed 45 runs off 23 balls, with the local boy Manish Pandey there was a fading legend at the crease who is trying to take himself out of the something which he has done constantly over the past decade; finishing off the match for the team.

Dhoni is clearly not the best finisher anymore, if we put him in a situation where he needs to send the ball out of the park from the word go. Though, the 36-year old tried his best and even sent an alarming message to the Aussie camp with a six off Kane Richardson in the 48th over. Dhoni failed to take the team home and was bowled, as he chopped the ball onto his stumps.

As, MS walked back to the pavilion, there was utter disappointment seen on captain Virat Kohli‘s face. The series now stands at 3-1 in favour of the hosts, while the last match will be played in Nagpur on Sunday.
