One of the giants of wrist-spin bowling in the world cricket at the moment, Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t let his tiny structure define his petite stature in the spin department.
The wily leg-spinner, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, has bloomed into a lethal option for both the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the national team in particular.
During one of the popular chat shows, ‘Breakfast with Champions’ with Gaurav Kapoor, Chahal talked about varieties of issues, spanning both his personal and professional life.
One of the topics he threw light on was his equation with former teammate Andrew Symonds at the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp.
Surprisingly, Chahal revealed that he still is in touch with the Australian cricketer and his family.
Apparently, the two share a very good bond since they met while representing three-time champions Indians, and have been in touch ever since. Symonds and his better-half Brooke Symonds also have a nickname for Chahal, which is ‘Apple’.
So much so, that whenever Chahal visits Australia, he ensures that he goes out fishing with Symonds. Throughout the 20-minute long conversation, the young leggie repeatedly focussed on his love for the butter chicken.
Also, during the end of the conversation, Chahal reiterated Symonds’ wife prepared butter chicken on her own. The promising spinner revealed Symonds wife took out the recipe from the website, especially for him.
In the middle of it, Yuzvendra Chahal claimed that Symonds is often misunderstood and perceived as arrogant. He believes this is due to the ‘Monkeygate Episode’ which unravelled in 2007-2008.
