There is no doubt about the fact that women’s cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana has taken the world by storm with her whirlwind batting. Recently, she represented Women’s Cricket Super League (WCSL) in England which is a significant boost for her ahead of the 2018 World T20 for Women’s.

The cricketing carnival will be held in Windies this time around.

Mandhana is one of those very few women cricketers who possess the ability to hit the big shots on a consistent basis. However, she feels that the real gain for her will be facing the bowlers all over the world during the ICC World Twenty20 later this year.

The men’s team has been battling hard to cope with the English conditions.

However, Mandhana has been just milking runs after runs and has been on a roll. She has scored 48, 37, 52*, 43*, 102, 56 and 49 in seven innings she has played so far.

Mandhana is representing the Western Storm in the WCSL. She has already established herself as a star in the team.

Smriti Mandhana is the top scorer of WCSL at the moment.

She is the leading run scorer in the tournament with 387 runs. Mandhana is way ahead of her captain Heather Knight, who has just scored 250 runs.

Mandhana also tops the chart for highest batting average and strike rate. She remains the only batswoman till now to score a century in the competition.

However, she is hoping to replicate his form in the T20 World Cup later this year.

“When I got this offer from Trevor (Griffin), our coach, the only thing which I was keen was that the World Cup is coming, I didn’t take even, maybe a day to say yes to him, because I was really keen to play this league,” she said in an interview to bcci.tv.

“I’ll be playing the same bowlers in the World Cup, and to play them beforehand would be a really big thing, and I will also be able to tell all my teammates how they are bowling, and what they are strategising. That was a really big bonus for me,” she added.

Mandhana reveals she is picking the brains of Windies skipper

The Women’s World Twenty20 will be held in the Caribbean. Mandhana revealed that she is picking the brains of Stephanie Taylor to understand the conditions in Windies.

The promising cricketer Smriti Mandhana eyes big during the 2018 World T20 following WCSL success.

Heather Knight, Shrubsole, Fran Wilson, along with the other England girls, and Stafanie Taylor as well, from the West Indies. So I have been picking her brain as well – how the wickets will be in the West Indies, what the weather will be, so that I can understand the conditions. It’s been really good interactions with them,” said Mandhana.

“I have had one or two lessons with Wilson about the reverse sweep, because that’s one thing which I don’t really play, and I am keen to learn, because you never know in T20 cricket, you have to use one someday. So really good interactions and good friends also. Maybe one day it will help me play better against some international teams,” Mandhana concluded.
