MSK Prasad, the outgoing chief of India’s selection panel, has once again reiterated that the selectors are keen to give the youngsters an extended run ahead of MS Dhoni. As of now, the only clarity regarding MS Dhoni’s future in international cricket is that there is no clarity.
The World Cup-winner has not played for India since the end of the World Cup in July and is unlikely to play for the national team any time soon. A number of former players including Kapil Dev have expressed their doubts over MS Dhoni’s return to international cricket.

India head coach Ravi Shastri recently hinted that MS Dhoni is unlikely to return to the ODI side. Shastri, however, claimed that Dhoni could return to the T20I side and could be in contention for the T20 World Cup if he does well in the IPL.
Only time will tell how MS Dhoni’s future with Team India pans out but for the time being, one thing is clear that the selectors are in no mood to prefer the former India skipper ahead of youngsters. MSK Prasad has once again said that the selectors are giving the youngsters as many opportunities as possible to settle down.
While praising Dhoni, MSK Prasad also made it clear that the selectors have moved on from him and are busy in discovering the next generation of players.
“As far as we are concerned, we are backing youngsters and giving them as many opportunities to settle well and play long. Mahi will take a decision for himself. As a panel member, if I keep professional duty aside, I am as big a fan of Dhoni as anyone else,” MSK Prasad told Sportstar.
“He has achieved everything under the sun winning two World Cups, the Champions Trophy, the No. 1 Status in Tests. Nobody can question that. About his career, he will take a call. As selectors, our duty is to move on and identify the next generation of players and keep giving them chances,” he added.
