West Indies Name Kieron Pollard As ODI & T20I Captain For Afghanistan Series

West Indies have named Kieron Pollard as their T20I and ODI captain for the upcoming series against Afghanistan in Dehradun. The decision comes after West Indies failed to win a single T20I or ODI game at home against India a couple of months ago. Pollard has replaced Carlos Brathwaite as the T20I captain and Jason Holder as the ODI captain.
Brathwaite has also lost his place in the T20I and ODI teams while Holder is a part of all the three squads. Holder will continue to lead the team in the Tests. Afghanistan will host the Caribbean team for three T20Is, three ODIs and one Test. All the games will take in Dehradun next month.

West Indies have included some news faces in the team in the form of legspinner Hayden Walsh Jr. and batsman Brandon King. Both the players have earned their maiden T20I and ODI calls after impressing in the just-concluded Caribbean Premier League. Walsh, who made his international debut for USA earlier this year, picked up 22 wickets to help Barbados Tridents win the tournament.

On the other hand, King was the top scorer in the competitionwith 496 runs in 12 innings at a strike-rate of nearly 150. Meanwhile, star spinner Sunil Narine is not a part of either the T20I or the ODI squad. The spinner had suffered a recurrence of a finger injury during the CPL. West Indies have also recalled Lendl Simmons and Denesh Ramdin to the T20I squad.
