After the completion of the Indian Premier League (IPL), West Indies will resume their international cricket by touring to New Zealand in November. This will be the first series for the Kiwis post the resumption of play in the pandemic era.

While several West Indian players are already in New Zealand and started their 14-day mandatory quarantine on Friday, others are playing in the IPL in the UAE.  The IPL will conclude on November 10 and after a couple of days rest other West Indies players will fly directly to New Zealand.

7 West Indies players playing in the IPL to undergo isolation in New Zealand

There are as many as 7 players who are part of the IPL and the New Zealand tour- Kieron Pollard, captain of the West Indies T20 team, Fabian Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Oshane Thomas, and Jason Holder, captain of the Test team.

Coach Phil Simmons feels that it would be difficult for players to be at their best playing a game straightaway after spending 14 days in isolation. However, the positive side which Simmons sees is that the players are coming off from playing high-level cricket in the IPL.

According to a report in BBC.com, Coach Phil Simmons said, “It’s a bit difficult. The main T20 guys are in isolation until the morning of the first game. The plus is that they will be coming from a high-quality tournament so they will be sharp.”
