The auction for the next season of thE Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to take place in Kolkata on December 19 and prior to the event, all the franchises have just a week left to decide on the player(s) whom they want to release or trade. There have been only two trades so far and it is unlikely that any more player will be traded as there is not much time left.

A social media user on Twitter inquired to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) regarding the changes that he can expect in the season and in reply, CSK clearly hinted that they will retain the same squad.

Before the auction for IPL 2019, CSK retained 22 and released just three players. Their captain MS Dhoni is not known to making changes in the squad and has the habit to back players, as we saw in the tournament last year.

He continued to back Shane Watson even when the experienced player had a poor run in the league stage. He took CSK into the final with a half-century in the second Qualifier against Delhi Capitals while in the final, his gritty knock of 80 almost saw CSK win the title for the fourth time but the defending champions fell short by just one run.

While CSK are unlikely to release any player this season, the likes of Jaydev Unkat (Rajasthan Royals), Shimron Hetmyer (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Carlos Brathwaite (Kolkata Knight Riders), Varun Chakravarthy (Kings XI Punjab) might be released by their respective franchises.

It has already been confirmed that Mayank Markande, who played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018 and 2019, will play for Delhi Capitals as the defending champions exchanged him with DC for Sherfane Rutherford.

R Ashwin, Kings XI Punjab???s former captain, will now play for Delhi Capitals. His move to the Delhi-based franchise was confirmed by the board a few minutes back. KXIP got some amount and all-rounder Jagadeesha Suchith in exchange for Ashwin.
