Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: I Don’t Think I’m Going Up There Anytime Soon - Danni Wyatt Shares Harrowing Cable Car Experience In South Africa

On Thursday, English cricketer Danni Wyatt recounted a “terrifying” incident when she and her teammates were left stranded in Cape Town’s Table Mountain cable car after it lost power. The cable car, which ascends over 1,000m (3,200ft) to the plateau above the city, had technical issues that had already made Danni Wyatt uneasy before boarding. 

However, things took a turn for the worse when the cable car dropped and swung, leaving the 31-year-old feeling even more nervous.

While participating in the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup, Danni Wyattexplained that the Table Mountain cable car lost power due to load-shedding, a common occurrence in the country that can last for up to 10 hours a day.

“There were a few technical issues that made me very nervous before we boarded the cable car and then it decided to drop a little bit and swung. It was a very terrifying experience. I don’t think I’ll be going up that mountain again anytime soon. I’m not going on that cable car ever again. It’s the load shedding, once the electricity goes, that’s it. Next time. I’ll take the stairs.”

Danni Wyatt Set For The Semi-Finals Clash Against South Africa

Danielle Wyatt is currently a part of the English Women’s national side as they look to clinch the T20 World Cup title. The Lionesses will be up against the hosts in the second semifinals of the tournament to secure a spot in the finals where they will face the winner of the first semifinal between India and Australia.

The past few weeks have been tough for the English star as she mentioned has been heartbroken after missing out on a WPL contract. Danni Wyatt, despite her achievements in the shortest format of the game, was unable to secure a buyer in the WPL Auction.
