Whenever you talk about an India Pakistan contest especially in the cricket, the stakes are always sky high. The Asian giants haven’t met each other much in the last decade or so due to the political tension prevailing in the country.
However, they have locked horns against each other in ICC tournaments. India has a clear edge over Pakistan in such coveted event.
But, it was Pakistan, who returned as winners of the 2017 Champions Trophy in 2017 after beating their arch rivals by a huge margin of 180 in the final.
Earlier in the tournament, India had defeated them quite convincingly. However, Pakistan bounced back strongly in the final and won their first Champions trophy.
The two former World Champions will be gearing up for a much-anticipated clash in the ICC World Cup next year. The India-Pakistan match will be played at Manchester on 16th June.
It must be noted that Pakistan has never won a match against India, neither in the 50-over World Cup nor in the 20-over World Cup.
Especially, in the 50 overs format, India has been way ahead of their oppositions. India and Pakistan have met each other six times in the 50-over World Cup and India have returned winners on all these six occasions.
A big games for both the sides –
It is indeed a big match for both the teams. When asked about their feelings about the match to Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav, the duo said its always going to be an exciting encounter.
“Look, I always get excited. An India Pakistan game is phenomenal. Even if we play a practice match, the crowd turns up in big numbers. The last time we played them in the Champions Trophy was a fabulous atmosphere. I am sure people are already counting days for the World Cup clash and I am no different,” Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik said at the sidelines of a promotional event for KKR.
When asked about his opinion that particular game Kuldeep said, “It’s going to be a good game I guess. I feel like playing against Pakistan is something that will inspire you to do well against them and I am waiting for that.”
