The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to appoint a bowling coach for the Indian women’s team as they are likely to invite application for the top-brass post.

Meanwhile, the cricketers get their batting inputs from Tushar Arothe while Biju George is looking after the fielding department.

However, India as a team have had a mixed run since making the  2017 World Cup final in England in July 2017. They beat hosts South Africa in their ICC One-day International Championship-opener before losing to Australia at home.

Moreover, they also failed to make it to the final in the recently-concluded Twenty20 International Tri-nation series involving Australia and England in March.

The Mithali Raj-led squad subsequently made amends by beating England 2-1 in a three-match ODI series.

BCCI to appoint a bowling coach

A senior BCCI official told PTI that they are in the hunt for a suitable candidate.

Meanwhile, this call was taken after the management expressed their desire to have a professional bowling coach.

The women’s team management has expressed the need of a bowling coach. We will soon start the hunt for a suitable candidate by inviting applications,” the official said.

The applicants need not have an international background. Even Tushar has not played for India so that really is not a factor,” he added.

Arothe represented Baroda as an all-rounder scoring 6,105 first-class runs and took 225 wickets.

Meanwhile, BCCI will announce the Indian squad for the Asia Cup later this week.
