Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha is one of the two glovemen in the Test squad for the tour of Australia and potentially the first-choice one. Wriddhiman Saha, who suffered an injury during IPL 2020, is on the road to recovery ahead of the gruelling four-match Test series. The veteran cricketer was back in the nets in Sydney, batting in the nets.

Though Wriddhiman Saha did not play a massive chunk of matches in IPL 2020, his role was significant in lifting SunRisers Hyderabad to the playoffs. Wriddhiman Saha mustered two centuries in three games at the opening slot at the back end of the tournament, giving the Orange Army a big boost. However, the 36-year old suffered injuries to both his hamstrings, forcing him out of the Eliminator and Qualifier.

Nevertheless, the Bengal keeper-batsman returned to the nets, facing throwdowns from the Sri Lankan left-arm specialist Nuwan Seneviratne and Indian right-arm bowler Dayananda Garani for a considerable period. BCCI’s official Twitter handle posted the video of the same. The only other wicketkeeper in the Test squad is Rishabh Pant, who played a significant role in India’s series victory down under in 2018-19.

Below video shared by the BCCI shows Wriddhiman Saha batting:

Saha has so far featured in 37 Tests and scored 1238 runs at 30.19 along with three centuries and five fifties. Despite known for his brilliant work behind the stumps, Pant got the nod ahead of him in the Test series in New Zealand, mainly for his superior batting skills. But since the youngster not being in good nick, Wriddhiman Saha could most likely be the preferred choice. The first of the four Tests that begins at the Adelaide Oval from the 17th of December would be a day-night affair.
