Former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly believes Wriddhiman Saha, who is out of action since IPL 2018 due to a shoulder injury is the best wicketkeeper in the last five-ten years. However, after the retirement of MS Dhoni from Test cricket, Wriddhiman Saha has been India’s number one wicketkeeper. Currently, he is undergoing rehab and seems keen to return to the Test set up.

“He’s out of the team for about a year now, but I think in the last five to 10 years’ he has been India’s best gloveman. Hope he recovers soon,” Sourav Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, the former India captain was speaking here on the occasion of the release of ‘Vicky.’ The book is a fictional story of the game, written by a senior journalist, Gautam Bhattacharya. In this book, the story of a wicketkeeper’s struggle has been mentioned, which gets significant achievements after batting.

Moreover, Rishabh Pant started his career on a high, and thus the selectors have retained him for the upcoming tour of Australia. As a backup of Pant, Parthiv Patel got a chance in the team.

Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha has played 32 Tests matches scoring 1167 runs including three hundred. He represented his country for the last time during the Cape Town Test at the beginning of this year. With India not playing any Test till July 2019 after the tour to Australia, the Bengal wicketkeeper’s future remains uncertain.

However, Wriddhiman Saha made his Test debut in 2010 against South Africa. Interestingly, he played his last Test match against South Africa in 2018 scoring a duck and eight runs in both the two essays.
