Senior leg-spinner from Pakistan, Yasir Shah will undergo a fitness test this weekend in Lahore ahead of the tour to Zimbabwe, starting June 28 along with batsman Babar Azam.
Meanwhile, still, there are some speculations about whether the tour will go on. However, the ongoing dispute between Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) and players doesn’t affect Pakistan to go on with their preparations.
A fitness test will start on June 23 while the team will leave on June 28 for Harare. Head coach, Mickey Arthur and the team physiotherapist will be supervising the fitness test.
The list of players includes the likes of Yasir (all-rounder), Emmad Wasim, pacer Rumman Raees and Babar Azam.
Yasir missed the England and Ireland series owing to a hip injury while Babar sustained a finger injury during the first Test at Lord’s last month. As a result, the selectors seemed concerned with their fitness, as they will be crucial during the tour.
Even Emmad and Rumman have been on the injury list for a few months now. With a lot of games lined up, the selectors are in a dilemma to take any risk.
Chief selector, Inzamam and Arthur will also sit down to chalk down the cricketers’ list who will get central contracts.
As per reports, they have urged the board officials to reduce the number of players from 35 to 25. Instead, they have recommended increasing their monthly salary.
