Yuvraj Singh has been a household name in cricket. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly saw his potential and backed him while he continued to grow and make remarkable contributions under MS Dhoni.

Ashish Nehra, his former teammate, spoke about Yuvraj Singh’s career which he watched closely and he recalled how he braved odds to make the most of the opportunities served on his plate.

Yuvraj Singh was in impeccable form during 2007. His career saw an onward growth as he became one of the most crucial members of the national team. Apart from his batting, he could also contribute with the ball, which made him one of the finest all-rounders around the international circuit.

Ashish Nehra feels Yuvraj Singh performed the best under MS Dhoni. He also gave the example of 2011 World Cup, where he played brilliantly under MS Dhoni.

“Yuvraj has played well under MS Dhoni, as far as I have seen Yuvraj’s career, the way he has batted in 2007 and 2008 onwards it has been impeccable,” Nehra said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

“And in 2011 we saw how he braved his sickness and played brilliantly under Dhoni,” the 40-year-old added. “I feel every player has their own choice of a favourite captain when they play for 16 years and Yuvraj played well under Dhoni according to me,” he further added.

Yuvraj Singh brought down the curtains on his career after playing 304 ODIs, 40 Tests and 58 T20Is. He scored over 10,000 runs in international cricket and will go down as one of the finest all-rounders to have donned the Indian jersey.
