Yuvraj Singh, apart from being an out-and-out match-winner, was a style icon back in the day. And, one of his biggest qualities was that Yuvraj never pretended to be someone else.
The left-hander engaged in a freewheeling chat with Indian pace bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on Instagram live.
Yuvraj was asked by Bumrah as to which cricketer in the current era can match his style. Replying on the same, Yuvraj touched upon the fact that young cricketers today try too hard to seek validation from fans on social media, and in doing so, they act completely different compared to what they are in real life.
“I feel they try too hard. They become what they are not when they are on social media. I have seen many players who are otherwise very decent but on social media they become something else.” Yuvraj Singh told Jasprit Bumrah.

People should have confidence in their own ability- Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj reckoned that one should have confidence in his own self and he shouldn’t seek people’s opinion for validation.
“I have seen youngsters want validation on social media. That people say they are good. People’s opinion should not change the perception and it should not matter. You need to have confidence in yourself,” added 38-year-old World Cup-winning cricketer.
Yuvraj Singh, however, did hail cricketers of the current era for their supreme fitness, while also adding that back in the day, there wasn’t as much information as it is today.
“Today, there is so much information out there. It was not the case when we were playing so it helps and you guys are extremely fit,” Yuvraj stated.
Yuvraj and Bumrah also had a discussion on the importance of Test cricket. The left-hander reckoned that youngsters these days do not take red-ball cricket seriously and according to him the prime reason for it is the hefty Indian Premier League contracts that they get early-on in their career.
Coming back to Yuvraj- the match-winnet- the southpaw played a crucial role in India winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup at home in 2011. He was also named as the Player of the tournament for his 300+ runs and 15 wickets in the quadrennial event.
