Yuzvendra Chahal has impinged himself as one of the leading white-ball spinners of the modern-era, ever since he made his debut for Team India back in 2016.

Chahal, who made his debut four years ago, has represented the Men in Blue in 52 ODIs and 42 T20Is, in which he has claimed 91 and 55 wickets respectively.

India is scheduled to tour Australia later this year where Chahal will be a crucial part of the team in white-ball cricket but the Haryana leggie feels he can make the same impact in Test cricket and is eying to grab the red cherry on the bouncy Australian tracks.

“In the last 8 Ranji Trophy matches, I have bagged 46 wickets. In those matches, I bowled 20 to 25 overs of spell. I never thought along the lines of a red ball or white-ball cricket. I just go and enjoy my game. Whatever opportunity comes my way, I love to grab it. I am ready for every opportunity,” Yuzvendra Chahal told Times of India.

“I have played ODIs and T20Is but when someone calls you a Test player, it is a different feeling altogether. In ODIs and T20Is, you know that the batsman will hit you for boundaries and sixes and you have to stop him by taking wickets or not allow him to go over the top. But in Tests, you have to get him out at any cost. That’s the biggest challenge. Test cricket needs a lot of patience. I believe I have the patience and composure to play Test cricket,” said the 29-year-old leg-spinner.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is slowly getting back to his daily practice. The right-hander, who has been doing his training at home during the lockdown, has slowly started bowling at a nearby ground in Gurugram and is now looking to get into the groove as soon as possible, considering the 13th edition of the IPL is on the horizon.

“I’m doing my regular training and gym work at home. A few days ago I went for my first practice at a nearby ground. I really wanted to hit the ground as it has been more than three months. I bowled only four or five overs. I want to get into the groove as soon as possible. I am glad that IPL is starting,” Chahal said.

“I think what we (Indian cricketers) are short on the most is stamina, as we all have been at home for more than three months. When you go under the sun and play, it is challenging. Because your body is not used to that right now. It may take about two weeks for a player to get into the groove.” he added.
