Yuzvendra Chahal Becomes Fastest Indian To Pick 50 T20I Wickets

It wasn’t a great day at the office for Yuzvendra Chahal on the other day facing Bangladesh Cricket Team. The flamboyant cricketer has faced a tough challenge with the dew making an impact on the game. Despite all the odds, Chahal still had a good memory to take from the game. In fact, a good one, as he became the fastest Indian to pick 50 T20I wickets.

Bangladesh batsmen took Yuzvendra Chahal to the cleaners, as they continuously got better off him. They thrashed him out of the park with ease to make things fall in place for Bangladesh. However, Chahal made a good comeback by bowling crucial over in the final overs to give a massive advantage for the team.

Yuzvendra Chahal reached the mark in 34 T20I games:

During the course, he also removed Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad, which was his 50th T20I wicket. By doing so, Yuzvendra Chahal became the fastest Indian cricketer to reach 50 T20I wickets. The 29-year-old achieved the tally in just 34 T20I appearances overtaking Dale Steyn of South Africa.

The quickest to reach the feat is Ajanta Mendis, who did it in just 26 T20I games. He was followed by Imran Tahir and Rashid Khan, who did it in 31 T20I games. Next in the list is Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, who bagged 33 wickets while Chahal is the latest to pick in 34 games.

Chahal, who was playing his 34th T20I, surpassed the Indian record set by seamer Jasprit Bumrah, who had reached the milestone in 41 games. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the third fastest Indian to get to the milestone, taking 42 games to achieve the same.

Chasing a daunting 175-run target, Bangladesh were all out for 154 runs in the 20th over as seamer Deepak Chahar bowled a terrific spell to end with staggering figures of 7/6. Opener Mohammad Naim top scorer for Bangladesh, scoring 81 runs off 48 balls while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul played well for India.
